whatimeant.lol turns one sentence into a shareable explanation. The site is built to prepare and serve the link you asked for, then let anyone with that link read the result. It also displays a small set of deliberately curated, anonymized conversation receipts on the public Hall of Fame.

What gets processed

The link system handles the sentence or phrase you provide, plus the generated lexical payload: token text, headword, part of speech, definition, usage note, and the overall summary. Separately, Hall of Fame entries are manually selected conversation excerpts with curated lexical payloads for their permanent exhibit views. The published receipts omit contact names and handles and include only the context chosen for the public exhibit.

Why it is processed

Submitted sentences are processed to prepare and serve requested share links. Curated Hall of Fame excerpts and lexical exhibits are published to show real examples of the interaction the site was built around.

Who can see it

Anyone with a generated link can view that link’s contents. Hall of Fame excerpts and their permanent exhibit views are public to anyone who visits the site. Names and handles are omitted from those cards, but a conversation excerpt can still be recognizable to someone familiar with it. Do not publish secrets, passwords, financial data, medical information, private identifiers, or other sensitive material you would not want to share publicly.

Retention and deletion

The server-side lexical result for an ordinary prepared link is stored in Cloudflare KV for about 30 days.
A viewed ordinary result may remain in that browser’s localStorage until browser or site data is cleared.
There is currently no self-service deletion option for generated results. Stored results generally expire after about 30 days, but earlier removal requires manual access to the stored record.
Curated Hall of Fame excerpts and their permanent lexical payloads are stored with the deployed site and remain public until they are manually removed from the site. They do not use the 30-day lexical-result expiration.

Third parties

OpenAI processes the sentence inside the private GPT to create an ordinary lexical result. The original sentence and generated result are then sent to Cloudflare, which hosts the publishing endpoint and stored result. The publishing endpoint does not make an additional OpenAI API request. Hall of Fame receipts and their permanent lexical payloads are served by Cloudflare as part of the public site; opening a Hall exhibit does not send that exhibit sentence to OpenAI or write a new result to Cloudflare KV.

Tracking and browser storage

The site uses browser localStorage to cache viewed ordinary results. It does not currently use application-level analytics or cookie-based tracking. Cloudflare may process standard request and network information while providing the site and API infrastructure.

Access control

Creating new ordinary links is restricted to an authenticated publishing service. Viewing a generated link, the public Hall of Fame, or a permanent Hall exhibit does not require authentication.
